Should I wait until my dog is 6 months old to start training? NO, your dog is an intelligent animal and is constantly learning. You should begin coaching, teaching and training your dog the moment you bring him home.
Is it a good idea to send my dog away to be trained? You should be involved in training your pet. Your dog is a social pack animal and needs to know his place in the group that he will function in on a regular basis. When we provide board and train services we include some in home instruction to insure owner involvement and the dog's compliance.
How do I establish leadership with my dog? We will show you 15 simple things that you can do that will demonstrate to your dog that you are the one in charge and that allow other members of your family to be in charge also. These techniques are non-abusive and require no physical force.
Why don't you use choke collars in your training? When not properly used choke collars put a tremendous amount of pressure on your dog's throat and can cause damage to the neck, spinal column and throat. A dog being trained with a choke will receive 1,000's of correction in his lifetime. A dog constantly being choked by his owner may get hurt and have difficulty trusting his owner.
Is it expensive to train my dog? NO, It is more expensive not to train your dog. An untrained dog may soil and damage property, or get hurt and require veterinary attention. All of these things can be very costly. Many untrained dogs pay with their lives; bad manners get them dropped off at pounds where millions are destroyed every year.
I've been to several training programs, why won't my dog listen to me? Just putting a choke chain on your dog or constant treating will not make you a leader. When force and punishment or constant rewards are the main training methods most dogs will not listen when off leash. Our training methods will help establish you as a good leader that a dog can follow, with or without a leash.
How long will it take to give my dog good manners? Each dog and owner has his or her own personality. The training methods are modified to work with both the dog and the owner. With positive motivation and leadership training you will see some things change the very first day. You should have a more consistent and dependable dog quickly.
My dog pulls on the leash all the time, how do I stop it? In most cases we can show you how to have your dog walking comfortably on a leash in the first session.
My dog growls at people and/or other animals, can you help? YES, we have worked with 1000's of aggressive and grumpy dogs and can develop a program for your dog. You do not have to accept your dog growling at anyone. However, it is very important NOT to use aggressive training methods with an aggressive dog.
Will my dog ever be house trained? YES, we have several house training approaches, one that will fit your lifestyle and your dog. We can also help with the older dog that has been house soiling for years.
